First Holy Communion

Kanajar, Nov 6: Sixteen children received the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time on this Sunday. Parish priest Rev. Fr. Dr. John Mendonca solemnized the First Holy Communion mass, which was concelebrated by guest priests Rev. Fr. Maxim Pinto, head friar of Capuchins at Kattingere parish and Rev. Fr. Melvin Fernandes from Paladka parish. Sr. Milberga and her team had conducted the month long catechism classes for the children in order to prepare them for the Holy Communion.

Later 10 of the children belonging to 8 families, had jointly held the celebratory function at Kanajar Sauharda Bhavan auditorium. Speaking on this occasion, parish priest Rev. Fr. Dr. John Mendonca praised the 8 families for coming together and holding the joint celebrations which was first of its kind witnessed by the Kanajarians. Mr. Ignatius D'Souza, vice-president of parish council raised the toast. Sri H Gopal Bhandari, MLA of Karkala, had graced the occasion. The function concluded with lunch being served to the guests who had attended in very large numbers.
