Dubai Sep 12: The Traditional Mangalorean way of celebration of Nativity of Mother Mary combined with new harvest is fast becoming a truly international Festival of Mangaloreans. Thanks to DaijiDubai.com who has brought all of us together in the net to be able to keep our traditions alive. Kanajar Welfare Association, Emirates (KWAE) is part of the international organization of Kanajarians, living in the Emirates, which came into existence two years ago in October 2000.
KWAE members came together with their families and friends on Thursday the 12th September at Al-Mas hotel apartments Dubai to celebrate the Monthi Fest. The program started at 9.00 pm with the President Mr. Stanley D'souza welcoming distinguished guests, Fr. Cyprian D'Souza of St.Mary's Church, Mr. Lawrence Saldanha of KWA Kuwait and Convenor of KWA umbrella organization, Mr. Dayan D'souza of Daijidubai writers forum, Mr. Walter Nandalike of Daijidubai.com, Mr. Frankie D'souza of Shezan Restaurant and Mr. Thomas Sequeira (Abudhabi) a prominent Kanajarian., relatives, friends and members. A special prayer session marking the occasion of Nativity of Mother Mary, conceptualized by Vice-president Mr. Aloysius D'souza followed by KWAE members' children Ashley, Bianca, Liza, Dalia & Ashlyn then performing a dance "Namaan Moriye Kurpen Bhorlele" to glorify the Mother.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Dayan D'Souza highlighted the advantages of Parishioners
unity outside the Parish and KWA Convenor Mr. Lawrence Saldanha updated the achievements
of KWA units worldwide and the progress of Lourdes Healthcare Hospital with an appeal to
the audience to continue to support the cause whole-heartedly. Mr. Walter Nandalike
acclaimed the achievements of KWA. Fr. Cyprian appreciated KWA members? commitment and
loyalty to Mai, Maibhas and Maigaon.
Mr. Thomas Saldanha, General Secretary read out the annual activity report of the
organization followed by a brief report on financial status as well as contributions to
the Lourdes Health Care Hospital project back home. To a huge applause by members, the
secretary proudly acknowledged that Kanajarians in U.A.E are unitedly supporting the
developmental projects undertaken by Kanajarians in the parish.
Children and adults alike enjoyed the Games, fun and frolic organized for the evening
lasting nearly 5 hours and ably conducted by Cultural Secretary Mrs. Vera Barboza. The
mouth-watering food prepared by members was then served on traditional Shirethi and
thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
