Kanajar, Aug 5: The training units of the Bunnies, Cubs & Bulbuls, Scouts & Guides were inaugurated at Lourdes English Medium School Kanajar.
School correspondent Rev. Fr. Harold Pereira presided over the function. Chief guest
Mr. Sachidananda Prabhu, President of Neere–Kanajar Gram Panchayat, Mr. Umesh Nayak, Cluster
Resource Person Bailur, Mrs. Jyothi J Pai, Guide Commissioner of Udupi District, Mr. Stany
Saldanha, Vice President of parish council, Mrs. Amreen, PTA President and Mrs. Jasmine Pinto,
School Principal were present on the dais.
The ceremony began with a prayer song seeking divine blessings followed by a vibrant welcome
dance by the students. A warm welcome was extended by Mrs. Sulochana, Guide Captain, expressing
gratitude to all dignitaries and participants. A short informative session introduced the gathering
to the objectives and structure of the Bunnies, Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts and Guides units, explaining
how these units build character, discipline, leadership and service. This was followed by the
ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries symbolizing knowledge, positivity and new
beginning. The audience then joined in singing the Flag Song with patriotic zeal, reinforcing unity
and commitment. A major highlight of the event was the scarf distribution ceremony, where students
were formally inducted into their respective units. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony,
where the newly enrolled members pledged to uphold the values of the Scouts and Guides movement.
In his speech chief guest Mr. Sachidananda Prabhu emphasized the importance of service and leadership
among youth. Mr. Umesh Nayak encouraged students to be active participants in nation-building through
such platforms. Mrs. Jyothi J Pai in her keynote address appreciated the school's initiative in
nurturing young citizens with values and discipline. Rev. Fr. Harold Pereira applauded the school
community's efforts and encouraged students to always live by the Scouts' and Guides' motto: "Be
Prepared" and "Do Your Best".
Mrs. Vikitha, Captain of Bulbuls, proposed vote of thanks and expressed sincere gratitude to the
dignitaries, management, staff and students for their support and active participation. The ceremony
concluded with the National Anthem, filling the auditorium with a sense of pride and unity.
