Kanajar, Jul 7: Lourdes English Medium School Kanajar joyfully celebrated Vanmahotsav - the Festival of Trees - in collaboration with the Forest Department, Karkala Range, with great enthusiasm and environmental spirit. The event was marked by active student participation, inspiring speeches and vibrant cultural program.
The celebration began with the planting of sapling by the Joint Secretary, Chief
guests, Principal and high school students promoting the importance of afforestation
and environmental care. This symbolic gesture aimed to instil a sense of responsibility
in young minds towards nature.
The stage program commenced with a soulful prayer followed by the uplifting strains of
the Nadageethe. The Principal extended a warm welcome to the gathering, emphasizing the
significance of Vanmahotsav and the role of students in preserving the green cover.
Saplings were then distributed to high school students, encouraging them to plant trees
in their homes and surroundings, thereby playing an active role in eco-conservation.
The Chief Guest Mrs. Manjula, Divisional Forest Officer, addressed the audience with an
insightful speech, highlighting the urgency to save the Earth, maintain ecological balance
and the long-term benefits of tree plantation. Her words inspired all present to act as
true guardians of nature.
The Joint Secretary of the Management further reinforced the message, urging everyone to
"Plant a tree and save the environment". The program also featured a speech by Ann Joseph
of Grade 3, whose heartfelt words reflected the importance of environmental awareness
among young learners.
To add a cultural touch, students of Classes 1 and 2 presented a melodious group song
dedicated to Mother Nature. An action song added energy to the event, delivering environmental
messages through rhythm and movement. A captivating dance drama by classes 5 and 6, choreographed
by Mrs. Vikita Poojary, mesmerized the audience with its message of harmony between humans and
nature. A thought-provoking skit by students of Classes 7 to 9, guided by their class teachers,
portrayed the consequences of deforestation and the urgent need for tree plantation.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mrs. Jeslin Veigas, who expressed
gratitude to the guests, staff, and students for their wholehearted participation and contribution.
The stage program was compered by Mrs. Sulochana and Mrs. Geetha Shetty while the cultural program
was coordinated by Ms. Josnia Rebello.
