Independence Day Celebrated at Lourdes English Medium School

Kanajar, Aug 15: The 75th Indian Independence Day was celebrated with splendor and patriotism at Lourdes English Medium School Kanajar.

The programme began with the singing of Vande Mataram prayer. Rev. Fr. Vishal Lobo, parish priest of Lourdes Church and school correspondent presided over the function. Chief guest Rev. Fr. Joel Aranha, vice-president of parish council Mrs. Mable Nazareth, convener of 20 commissions Mrs. Maria Saldanha, PTA president Mr. Antony Miranda and Head Mistress Mrs. Jasmine Pinto were present on the dais.

Rev. Fr. Vishal Lobo hoisted the tri-color. Speaking on the occasion he highlighted the rich culture and heritage of our country and called for concerted effort to eradicate corruption and other social evils as part of building an economically stronger India. He also stressed on the need to educate our young about the fundamental rights and duties as these will help them to be a good citizen of the nation and thereby leading to a progressive India.

Mrs. Jasmine Pinto, HM of Lourdes School welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Vinitha D'Cunha, Asst. Teacher proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Anceta Fernandes, Asst. Teacher compered the programme.
