Kanajar, Nov 27: In preparation to the reopening of the renovated Lourdes Church, a ceremonial
procession of head-load offerings "Hore Kanike" was organized by the community of Kanajar.
The head-load offerings were carried by traditionally-dressed men and women parishioners who brought
along the agricultural produce such as grains, fruits, vegetables, etc.

The parishioners carrying head-load offerings from Palli, Bailoor and Kamblaguri gathered at the
school grounds at 11.15 am and they were offered jaggery and water, a traditional thirst quencher.
The head-load offerings were later carried in a grand procession with band and taken to the Kanajar
Sauharda Bhavan and was received by Kanajar Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha. Notable was the
people from neighboring Moodubelle parish (mother parish of Kanajar) and Nakre parish, who had took
part in the ceremony gathered in large numbers. The non-Christian brethren too took part in the
ceremony with solidarity and confirming the religious harmony in the region.
In the felicitation program Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha welcomed all the guests and the parishioners. The
program was presided over by Rev. Fr. Valerian D'Silva. Also the guests of honor present in the dais
were Rev. Fr. Lancy Saldhana - Asst. Parish Priest St. Lawrence Church, Mable Nazereth - Vice President
of Pastoral Council Kanajar Church, Sr. Meena - Convent Superior, Denis D'Souza - Secretary of Pastoral
Council Kanjar Church, Praveen Pande - President of Palli Panchayath, Ramesh Shetty - President of
Neerebailoor Panchayath and Br. Richard Lobo - Deacon.
Praveen Pande spoke on the occasion and said we all are gathered here without any differences or cast
or creed as one family. Rev. Fr. Valerian D'Silva blessed the offerings and prayed for everyone who
involved either directly or indirectly. Prakash Martis compeered the program.
Delicious vegetarian lunch was provided to all the people numbered around 1200.
