Dubai, Nov 22: Thomas Saldanha, a young and dynamic youth leader has been elected as the new President of Kanajar Welfare Association, Emirates in an electoral meeting held on 22nd November 2002 where most of the members were present along with their families. Thomas Saldanha is one of the founder members of KWA parent organization, Kuwait and has earlier served both KWAK & KWAE as Gen. Secretary.

KWAE, which came into existence two years ago, is an association of Kanajar parishioners
living in the UAE. Being a sub-unit of KWA worldwide established in Kuwait 3 years ago, the
association in the emirate has spent two glorious years under the leadership of Mr. Stanley
D'souza. Outgoing president in his speech expressed gratitude and thanked all the
committee members for their wholehearted support during his term.
The meeting started at 11.45 am with a prayer followed by a welcome speech by the outgoing
president. The Secretary read out last two years report detailing various activities held
and a brief report on financial status including names of investors in Lourdes HealthCare
project back home. The election for 6 positions namely President, Vice-President, General
Secretary, Treasurer, Cultural Secretary and Public Relations together with 8 other committee
members took place at noontime. Mr. Thomas Saldanha was unanimously elected as the new
President of the association.

General Secretary - Mrs. Vera Barboza
Treasurer - Mrs. Juliet Barboza
Cultural Secretary - Mr. Stanley D'souza
Public Relations - Mr. J.B Saldanha.

Newly elected President Mr. Thomas Saldanha assured the parishioners to lead the organization
in a more constructive manner and to achieve its goals. He congratulated the newly elected
committee members and requested their wholehearted support for the association.
At the very outset, Mr. Thomas Saldanha a resident of Dubai , a Communication Engineering
graduate from Mangalore University, having spent nearly a decade in telecom industry (with M/s
LM Ericsson), he excelled and emerged as a telecom professional by his participation in career
based trainings in most of the European countries and USA and was delivering trainings in the
Middle Eastern countries. He now works for Emirates Telecommunication Corpn. (Etisalat) as
Trainer, specializing in Switching & Transmission.
At the end of the meeting, a
delicious lunch was served at 2 pm and thus the meeting session came to an end.
