Fr. John Mendonca takes charge as New Parish Priest of Kanajar Church

Kanajar, June 1: Rev. Fr. John Mendonca was given a warm welcome as he took charge at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Kanajar as the new parish priest of Kanajar parish. The current priest Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha received and welcomed the new priest with flower garland. Mr. Ignatius D'Souza, Vice-President of Parish Council, Mrs. Janet Menezes, Secretary of Parish Council and Sr. Meena, Sister Superior of Lourdes Convent also welcomed the new priest with garlands.

Fr. John Mendonca was serving at Pezar Parish before being transferred to Kanajar. Fr. Remigious Aranha, the new parish priest of Pezar parish had accompanied Fr. John. Incidentally Fr. Remi had served at Kanajar parish earlier. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha has been transferred to Katipalla parish and will take charge over there soon after.

Rev. Fr. John Barboza, Vicar of Karkala deanery, overlooked the formalities of the transfer of duties from Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha to Fr. John Mendonca. In his message Fr. Alwyn welcomed Fr. John to Kanajar and called on the people to support him in his service. Mr. Ignatius D'Souza, Vice-President of Parish Council read out the letter with brief introduction about the Kanajar Parish, and the letter was handed over to the Fr. John. Fr. John Mendonca thanked Kanajar parishioners for the warm welcome accorded to him. Mr. George D'Sa compeered the program.
