Kuwait, Oct 23: Glarida, a recognized name synonymous with the developmental
activities in Kanajar has opened its first consumer supermarket in Kuwait.
On Thursday the 23rd October 2008, Fr. Joseph Mascarenhas, visiting Parish Priest of Katipalla, Mangalore blessed the new premises followed by Lawrence & Reeda Saldanha, owners of the venture declaring open the store by cutting the ribbon.
With vast range of quality products at reasonable rates, the Store will cater
to a cosmopolitan population residing in the Area including Westerners. Fresh Vegetables,
fruits and Indian specialties will serve the Indian & other South East Asian inhabitants.
"This is the first trial venture in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) business and if God willing (Insha Allah), more such outlets will follow in the coming months/years" says Lawrence Saldanha, the owner of the Store who has been living and working in the Gulf Area for over 26 years and known mainly for Industrial business.
Mr. Saldanha is the founding joint venture partner with veteran businessman, Mr. Bader Sultan Ben Essa in Arabian Darb General Trading & Contracting Company. "Providing job opportunities to underprivileged Kanajarians continues to be one of our main objectives of these ventures" concluded Mr. Saldanha.
Snacks and soft drinks were served to the gathered crowd.
