Kanajar, Jun 28: Lourde Higher Primary School had recently acquired 3 Computers donated by Infosys Foundation and software donated by Microsoft, under the Infosys' "Computers\@Classrooms" program. Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha blessed the facility, while Shankar Patwal, Manager Syndicate Bank Kanajar, inaugurated the facility. Mrs. Celestine D'Souza, Vice President Parish Council and Mr. Manohar Shetty, J.O.C, First Grade College Karkala, were present on this occasion.
Mr. David Patrao, of Patrao Enterprises, had donated a sum of Rs.22,000 that was utilized to install the UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) systems. Classes for basic computer knowledge will be held twice a week for the students of 3rd to 7th standard. Mr. R. E. Rebello, Head Master, said at least another 10 computers are needed so as to get a fair opportunity to all the students at the school. He urged the ex-students and philanthropists to contribute for this noble cause. During the formal function the students performed a skit highlighting the necessity of computers in education.
