Bishop on a Pastoral Visit to Kanajar

Kanajar, May 14: Most Rev. Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Dr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza, was at Kanajar on his pastoral visit to the parish. He was given a warm welcome by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha, Vice-President Mrs. Celestene D'Souza, Mother Superiors Sr. Prefilda D'Sa & Sr. Leena Danthi and Mr. Marian Castelino.

The Bishop conferred the sacrament of Confirmation on 108 youths of the parish. Prizes were distributed to the winners during the customary catechism quizzing.

After the mass, the Bishop was felicitated on the occasion of his decennial anniversary of Episcopal Ordination. Mr. George D'Sa welcomed the Bishop and the gathering and the choir sang to wish him. Vice President Mrs. Celestine D'Souza presented "Mann Pothr" to the Bishop on behalf of Kanajar parishioners. Parish priest Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha honored Bishop by presenting him with shawl and fruits. The representatives from 12 wards, Mother Superiors, Catholic Sabha, ICYM, Altar Boys and the Sodality of Blessed Virgin Mary wished the Bishop with garlands.

Fr. Denis Prabhu, Chancellor of Mangalore Diocese, had accompanied the Bishop on this visit. Rev. Fr. Jacob Aranha, Rev. Fr. Vijay Bhat and Deacon Denzil Crasta were the co-celebrants of the holy mass.

After the lunch, the Bishop left for Barkur parish, thus ending his 2-days pastoral visit to Kanajar.
