KWAK Easter Celebration

Kuwait, Apr 25: Kanajar Welfare Association Kuwait (KWAK) celebrated Easter on Sunday at Village Inn Restaurant, Kuwait City. Almost all Kananjarians with their family were present for this beautiful function.

The function started at sharp 6.20 pm with a prayer by Jessy Pinto. The President, Melwin Mascarenhas gave a warm welcome to the audience and then a beautiful welcome song dedicated to the Association written by Jessy Pinto was sang by the the Golden Voice boy Rony D'Cunna with Lancy Rodrigues, Joe, Melwin, Charles, Jessy, Reeda & Renita which definitely made the crowd cheerful.

The Vice President Jessy Pinto escorted the Chief Guest Fr. Melwin D'Cunna & Deacon Mr. Silvester D'Souza to the stage and then honored them with a flower bouquet. Also the Presidents of all the Konkani Associations were invited to the event and were honored with a flower.

A special festival cake by Inas Menezes was cut by the Chief Guest. A speech by the President was much appreciated by the members and the guest, he briefed about his future plans & programmes of KWAK and promised that he will do his utmost best to keep the unity among Kanajarians in Kuwait and also said that every work of KWAK will be a good example.

A speech by the Chief guest by the Fr. Melwin & Deacon was very touching. Two elderly women from Kanajar (Mary Menezes, mother of Inas Menezes & Eveleen Rebello mother of Valerian Rebello) are on holidays to Kuwait. They were honored with a gift the out-going student Renita Pinto was wished & blessed for her best future. There were games for children and Adult which was ably conducted by Anil Britto, Charles D'Souza & Lancy Rodrigues.

The Raffle draw towards Lourdes Hospital, the dream project of Kanajar was conducted by Fr. Melwin D'Cunna 50 consolation prizes + 3 mega prizes were announced by Lawrence Saldanha. The Treasurer Denis D'Souza distributed the financial report to the members. A famous housie game played for all. Also the 'lucky person of the day' won by Lawrence Pinto (Lorry-bab). Delicious dinner was served and the General Secretary Mr. Roshan D'Souza gave the vote of thanks.

The function came to an end with the beautiful holy hymn Laudathe with the beautiful voice of Joe & the audience. The program was ably compared by Melwin Mascarenhas & Jessy Pinto.
