Melwin Mascarenhas elected as president of KWAK
Kuwait, Feb 6: Kanajar Welfare Association (KWA) also known as Lourdes Zamath
Kanajar is an association of Kanajarians living in India as well as in foreign Countries, predominantly
from the Gulf region. Since inception in March 2000, KWA has taken a lead role in the
developmental projects in the Parish of Kanajar.
KWAK was the first Zamath of Kanajarians outside
Kanajar formed in March 2000, which has since achieved tremendous growth in both
size and economy. Having played a key role in the establishment of Parish's
maiden project, Lourdes Hospital, KWAK continues to explore new areas of
development towards achieving self-sufficiency for the future generation. KWAK
has undertaken several humanitarian causes for the Parish such as contribution
towards refurbishment of Church Courtyard, Financial assistance to poor ailing
heart patients towards medical expenses and sponsorship of midday meals scheme
in the Lourdes Hr. Pry School.
KWAK held its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at
the residence of KWA International Convenor Lawrence Saldanha primarily to elect
a new Management Committee for the 2-year term 2004-2005 and to decide on
upcoming programs to be organized by the Zamath. In view of energizing the
organization, the General Body unanimously decided in favor of Melwin
Mascarenhas, a young, talented and dynamic Engineer to lead the organization for
the next 2 years. Following is the newly elected committee:

In recognition of the contribution and dedication,
one of the senior members of KWAK, Mr. Daniel D'Souza has been honored with the
title of Director of the organization.
Outgoing President Lawrence D'Souza
praised his team for their valuable contribution during his term, which saw the organization
growing from strength to strength while the new President thanked members for
electing him and assured his heart and soul for the institution to ensure the
desired pace of progress. Presiding over the meeting, KWA Convener, Lawrence
Saldanha paid rich tributes to the selfless service of the outgoing President
and his team and wished every success to the new President and the new
Committee.
The General Body also decided to organize

Get-together" open to members' families and friends
September 19, 2004 Monthi Fest for members families only
December 3, 2004 Grand Vodlem Fest celebrations open to all
The meeting concluded with the prayer and delicious but simple Mangalorean style
Fish Curry Rice and Vegetables.
