Independence Day Celebrations at

Kanajar, Aug 15: The 59th anniversary of India's Independence was
celebrated with splendor at Lourdes Higher Primary School. The chief guests of the program were
escorted to the venue led by the school band. Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha, Parish
Priest, unfurled the tricolor flag. In his address to the school assembly, Fr.
Alwyn stressed the importance of living in harmony in this diverse nation,
regardless of our caste, creed or religion, and to fight the evil from the
society so as to build a prosperous nation.


Mr. Dawood Mohammed, President of
parent-teacher's association, Mrs. Celestine D'Souza, Vice President of Church Council, and Mr.
R.E. Rebello Head-Master of Lourdes Higher Primary School took part in
celebrations. Mr. R. E. Rebello welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Rathna Shetty gave
the vote of thanks. Later, a colorful cultural program was presented by the
school children.
