Kanajar, Jun 8: The newly elected MLA of Karkala legislative constituency Sri H Gopal Bhandary was felicitated by Kanajarians here. The program began after the Sunday morning mass at William Louis Memorial Hall at Kanajar. The parish council vice-president Mrs. Mable Nazareth welcomed the distinguished guests and the gathering. Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha (Parish Priest, Kanajar) in his speech recalled of Sri Bhandary being a down to earth person and wished him best in his tenure.
Sri Bhandary in his speech expressed concerns over the deteriorating state of democracy in India. He argued that the elections are being fought by glorifying the violence and hatred. He thanked the people for electing him as their representative and assured of doing his best for the development of the constituency.
The MLA was felicitated by Rev. Fr. Alwyn D'Cunha with a shawl, fruits and memento.
Prakash Martis compered the program. DJ Steve provided sounds and music.

As per my opinion, this is not correct to keep healthy relation with local public.

I agree with Mr. Louis D'Souza. Leaders of other religions did not felicitate Mr.Bhandary
nor they went to his office. Mr. Bhandary visits temples to seek blessings; while in Udupi Mr.
Bhat and Mr. Acharya visited churches in a gesture to boost minorities' confidence.
